The Felix Foundation Baltistan (FFB) is a locally based, non-profit organisation working for the development of the people of the Hushe Valley in Baltistan, an isolated mountain region in northern Pakistan. In cooperation with its Basque partner organisation, Baltistan Fundazioa (BF), the FFB finances projects in Education, Agriculture, Ecotourism, Infrastructure, Health and Gender Equality. The FFB aims to be a leading and widely accepted developmental institution, particularly in the fields of Education, Agriculture, Eco-Tourism, Water Resources, Energy Resources, Skills Development and Women’s Empowerment. Positively influencing the socio-economic conditions of Gilgit-Baltistan and in particular the Hushe Valley, in ways that promote peace, harmony, unity and prosperity. By valuing and supporting collaboration and embodying pluralism, we will offer innovative and dynamic indigenistic programs that are academically, socially, culturally and economically excellent. The work of the FFB began in the village of Machulo, a remote village of about 3,000 residents at an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters. The living conditions are very hard, not only because the climate and geographical location keeps them isolated from the rest of the country, but because of a lack of development in basic areas of education, health, productivity and gender equality. The FFB together with the Baltistan Fundazioa and other local NGOs work for the integrated development of the whole valley.
