Thompson is the premier provider of clinical and prevention services for children and families across Mecklenburg County. The Matthews, NC-based nationally accredited nonprofit agency offers a full range of evidence-based/evidence-informed prevention and intervention services that strengthen and support children and families. In FY16-17, Thompson impacted more than 12,800 clients from its four locations specializing in clinical and behavioral treatment, developmental education and proactive care. With a culture of excellence that informs policy, Thompson is one of the leading child welfare agencies in the Carolinas. Thompson has received The Gold Seal of Approval® from The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States. All programs are licensed on the highest NC levels and standards. The continuum of care includes: Foster Care & Foster Parent Licensing, Thompson Connect, Friends of the Children – Charlotte, Thompson Outpatient Therapy Services, Intensive In-Home Services, Wraparound Program, Family Education, Thompson Child Development Center, Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, and Thompson Center for Early Childhood IMPACT (Improving and Maintaining Programs through Assessment, Consulting and Training). A dedicated staff works to fulfill the 131-year-old mission of serving children, families through healing, teaching, worship and play.
