Our mission is to engage, restore, and empower individuals in our community to reach their fullest potential. The vision of Peace River Center is to be a center of excellence for building emotional wellness. A progressive innovative leader in service delivery, Peace River Center is a private, licensed and accredited, 501(c)(3) non-profit provider of mental health and substance use disorder services serving Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties since 1948. Through vital health care partnerships thousands of people consistently receive unbiased services meeting their needs in the most appropriate environment with the utmost respect. A holistic approach focuses on treatment in conjunction with symptom and health management, comprehensive trauma recovery from abuse and violence, crisis intervention, life skills, housing, and community integration support. The array of services includes inpatient, outpatient, home-, school- and community-based and mobile programs for individuals and their families, 24/7 emergency psychiatric treatment, crisis response and hotlines services as well as domestic violence shelters. The agency’s approach enables clients to access services tailored to meet their changing needs, incorporating the use of Best and Evidence-Based Practices throughout all programs and services. Restoring health and improving quality of life allows clients to live the life of their choice in the community of their choice.
