Service Dogs Alabama was founded in 2010 to provide Service Dogs to disabled children under the umbrella of Easter Seals Alabama. In March 2015, Service Dogs Alabama became an independent 501(c)(3) and expanded its scope to include adult and Veteran recipients. Since that time, Service Dogs Alabama has developed a state-of-the-art training complex; created a prison-based puppy training initiative; implemented a School Dog program to improve academic performance, reduce office referrals, and prevent disruptive behaviors in a school setting; and initiated a Probation Dog program to assist with youthful offenders.
