Family Promise of Midland assists families in the throes of homelessness. In order to qualify for our services, a family must be homeless (as defined by the McKinney-Vento Act) and have at least one child under the age of 18 years in their care. We accept single moms, single dads, and two-parent families with children. We provide free childcare through a local, commercial childcare facility. We have a full-time case manager who works with all of our families to assist them in increasing their independence and self-sufficiency. We have mobilized the faith community to provide shelter, food, and hospitality for families we serve through our Midland Interfaith Hospitality Network program. Additionally, we have duplexes for our family transitional housing program called Families Forward. Families may stay in these units for up to two years, all the while, strengthening their foundation for success. A small "program fee" is charged for these units, so the families have some 'skin in the game'. We are NOT a 'hand-out' program, we are a 'hand-UP'. When families work the program, the program works for them!
