Richa Foundation is an NGO registered under District Administration Office of Kathmandu, Nepal and has an affiliation with Social Welfare Council. The foundation believes that every single individual has the right to authentic information on cancer. And, one-third of cancer can be prevented if a person can avoid tobacco, take healthy diet and exercise. These habits can be instilled in any individual from the moment they turn adolescent if right intervention is made on time. Thus, we have been focusing on school students, aged 13-16 where we provide awareness sessions on cancer and then encourage them to form a club within their school premises, which we call 'Elixir Club', to impart the knowledge they receive to their peers and actually embrace in their own life. The students are encouraged to organize and participate in various activities like debate, art, speech, cycling, hiking, food selection so that they can practice and share among each other what they learn. It is through these habitualization that the students can lead a cancer fear-free life which is in fact the vision of Richa Foundation. Besides these, our activity is also focused on generating awareness about different types of cancer among community people and conducting cancer screening programs specially for women focusing on cervical and breast cancer.
