Hiwot Ethiopia has become well known for its pioneering work with boys and men to tackle HIV/AIDS and GBV among children and youth. In particular, Hiwot Ethiopia’s work on engaging men and boys has been recognized as an innovative and important contribution to achieving gender equality and reducing GBV. It has implemented MARPs project to address most at risk urban youths. Comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and information for in and out of school children is other project implemented by Hiwot Ethiopia. The radio program, which is an interactive Amharic radio, is among the projects that Hiwot has been implementing to address men and boys to protect children from sexual abuse, exploitation and GBV. Empower children to ensure their meaningful participation in local level economic governance is other projects implementing to encourage children and ensure their meaningful participation on child protection and participation. Education matters and education for change projects has been implementing by Hiwot to protect rural girls from child marriage, sexual harassment and abduction. Communication for Health project is in order to increase knowledge and beneficial practices concerning health through Social and Behavioral change communication (SBCC) approach. Addressing the Sexual and Reproductive Health Needs of Adolescents is the project to eradicate early marriage and reduce early and closely spaced child bearing practices among girls and young women.
