MissionBox is excited to announce the two recipients of our June 2018 grant from the MissionBox Philanthropic Fund.

Empower Education and Inspire

"Who are you?" they'll ask.
Which begs the deeper question:
Who will I become?

Mercy Beyond Borders

Waving diplomas,
Girls rise from their mud-thatched huts:
"No stopping us now!"

MissionBox extends our thanks all who submitted a haiku for our June 2018 grant.

Don't forget, all those who submitted a haiku for this grant are still eligible for our July 2018 grant!

______________________________________________________________________________________

The grant is closed. Thank you for your submissions. Please be patient, we will be announcing the winners in a couple weeks, as we are giving our judges enough time to make thoughtful decisions.

Sometimes, we are so busy delivering services, dealing with staff shortages or keeping the “lights on” that it's easy to forget what first inspired our nonprofit or charity work.

For this reason, MissionBox Philanthropic Fund is sponsoring a June 2018 grant opportunity that is creative, fun and reminds us of why we do the good work that we do!

We are offering two, $2,000 (USD or equivalent) unrestricted cash grants, awarded to two organizations that apply according to the Rules listed below. Recipients will be selected by the MissionBox Nonprofit Advisory Board panel.

The only requirement for this grant application is that you create an organizational profile (directions at the end of this application) AND send us a haiku about the heart of your mission, as directed.

What is a haiku?

The haiku is a Japanese poem in three lines. Line one has 5 syllables, line 2 has 7 syllables and line three has 5 syllables.

While a traditional haiku is also often represented by the comparison of two images or ideas, for the purposes of this grant, the only restriction regards the number of lines and syllables: 5/7/5. This is a VERY fun process — please include your staff, volunteers, consumers or supporters to write your haiku.

Here is an example of the 5/7/5 syllable haiku poem:

  • Connect, learn, share, shine (5 syllables)
  • Nonprofits and charities (7 syllables)
  • Collaborate here (5 syllables)

How many haikus can my organization submit?

While it is great fun to include your staff or consumers in the creative haiku process, only one submission will be allowed from each nonprofit or charity organization.

Read the haiku submissions here! Haikus are presented in no particular order.

The Grant

The MissionBox Philanthropic Fund is offering two $2,000 (USD or equivalent) grant awards in June 2018, to a nonprofit or charity, from anywhere in the world, that submits a haiku about their mission.

Grant opens June 7th, 9:00 a.m., CDST and closes June 29th, 5:00 p.m., CDST. Winners will be announced in July!

This will allow the MissionBox Philanthropic Fund to ensure that applicants represent an actively registered charity or nonprofit. Only nonprofits and charities with completed profiles are eligible.

Register Your Organization on MissionBox

  • Next: Write a haiku about your organization's mission, and submit the haiku in an email to grants@missionbox.com.
  • The email should include:
    • A link to your registered MissionBox organization profile
