The Steve Hicks School of Social Work at UT Austin is conducting a study on immigrant children who have recently been detained with a parent (or other caregiver) and possibly siblings. We are specifically studying the mental health, developmental effects, and wellbeing of these children. Families that participate will be asked to complete a quantitative survey followed by a qualitative interview and will be compensated for their time. For the time being, all interviews will be conducted over the phone with the families. We hope findings from this study can be used to inform future policy and the work of those providing direct services to these families. If you have any families that are interested and meet the criteria, please feel free to share their information with us via the secured Refugee Children Study Recruitment Form. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the study at 512-586-0956 or email us at estudiodefamiliasca@gmail.com.
