Drowning Prevention Coordinator - DCMCCT Safe Kids
Dell Children's Medical Center - Austin,TX
The Drowning Prevention Coordinator (DPC) works in collaboration with the Dell Children’s Medical Center Injury Prevention Program and other internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and measure the impact of the Dell Children’s Drowning Prevention and Water Safety (DPWS) program.
Preferred candidates for this position will have 1-2 years of professional experience, be bilingual (English/Spanish), and have a master’s degree from an accredited college/university with a focus in population health, public health, health education or a similar area. The preferred candidate will understand the social determinants of health and how they impact/effect drowning risk as well as population health models (e.g., health belief model, transtheoretical model). Prior experience working with state and local policy. as a certified lifeguard, water safety instructor, or experience working with an aquatics program will also be considered.

Other Position Details:
• Requires local travel (Not overnight, approx. 25-50%)
• Ability to work a 40-hour week with irregular work hours
• Ability to work irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends on occasion
• The ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50lbs

What You Will Do
As an Associate withAscension Seton, you will have the opportunity to coordinates data analysis, program development and communication initiatives related to injury prevention.
Collaborates in the design and implementation of research projects involving the collection of data and surveying of families to assist with the scientific investigation into the causes of injury.
Analyzes injury registry data and assesses community needs to aid in the development and evaluation of initiatives.
Provides and facilitates injury prevention programs to the community to affect change in behavior and lessen the incidence of injury.
Provides direct injury prevention services to patient families and hospital staff. Provides counseling to patients and their families while in the hospital.
Development and implementation of a strategic plan for the DPWS program throughout the Greater Austin area.
Planning and coordinating formal and informal meetings of community stakeholders.
Policy development and review.
Technical writing and formatting.
Development of material for sharing to various entities including but not limited to; all forms of media outlets, technical training, community stakeholders, corporate and private funding sources.
Implementation of strategic objectives in collaboration with other partners including Dell Children’s Trauma and Injury Research Center and community-based partners.
Systematic collection of data to support measurement of DPWS program effort and impact.
Collaboration with Dell Children’s Foundation and Ascension Seton’s Grant and Research Department.
Collaboration with Ascension Seton’s Department of Government Relations and Legislative Affairs on local and State policy issues.
What You Will Need
Diploma High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required
