Since 1996, United Way for Greater Austin (United Way) has helped residents navigate the complex system of health and human services in Central Texas through its Navigation Center. 2-1-1 is free, confidential, multilingual and available 24/7. We provide streamlined access to information about more than 30,000 local, statewide and national resources including housing, food, healthcare, mental health, substance abuse treatment, child care, public benefits, employment, education, senior, transportation and legal services.
Through our four-person Community Information Team, we maintain an up-to-date, comprehensive database that includes all local nonprofit and government mental health resources. Our 2-1-1 program has received support from the Travis County Mental Health Planning Team to increase the mental health subject-matter expertise of our staff, and ensure our database of resources is comprehensive and up-to-date.
Sesame Street Communities has free English/Spanish resources for kids/families in crisis. Go to the home page then to the Topics menu at the far right.
