Quick Links
Introduction
Posts bring to MissionBox the ability to add messages directly and at any time to the group layout page. Posts are saved and searchable, allowing users to add custom messages, upload one or more images, embed video links, add comments, "like" each other's posts, tag other members and add custom tags.

Post Components
Post Type
Post Types are tags that allow users to classify the type of post being created by purpose. Editors can select from a preset list of Post Types or they can enter a new value by typing into the field. When this feature is enabled, readers will be able to quickly navigate to other posts of the same type.
Message
The message you wish to share with the group, which may just be a sentence or two.
Photo
Include one or multiple photos as part of your post.
People
You can tag other users to a post, which sends them an alert that they’ve been mentioned in published content.
Location
You can share a location as part of your post.
The address of your event can be entered by name or address, i.e., for an event at The Westin Austin Downtown hotel:
- Search Location by Name: type the name (for example: Westin Austin) until it displays in the dropdown, select it, then click the blue Set Location button)
Or
- Search Location by Address: type the address (for example: 310 E 5th St, Austin) until it displays in the dropdown, select it, then click the blue Save button)
Collections
Collections are secondary, custom tags related to the subject matter of the post that you can apply to posts you’re creating. Editors can select from a preset list or add new options by typing into the field. When this feature is enabled, readers will be able to quickly navigate to other posts within the same collection.
Urgent
By clicking into this box, you can flag your event as urgent. Flagging a post as urgent will send a notice out to group members that urgent content has been published. It does not create a visual indicator on the content itself.
Creating a Post
To begin, hover over the Posts tab and select Post an Update.

The Post an Update pop up will appear. Because Posts are intended to be quick methods of sharing information, there is less opportunity for drafting.
Unlike Articles, Events, Questions, and Resources – posts are completed in the popup. Once “Create” is clicked, the Post will be published.
When creating a post, users have a small variety of fields that they can enter data into. No field entries are required when creating a post.

Urgent
By clicking into this box, you can flag your event as urgent. Flagging a post as urgent will send a notice out to group members that urgent content has been published. It does not create a visual indicator on the content itself.

After all of the details you wish to include have been filled out, click Create.

Engaging with Posts
Group members or other users viewing a post can add comments to posts.

The "Write a Comment" box displays for each user at the bottom of each post

Users viewing a post can click into the "Write a comment" box to start their comment

After typing the comment into the Write a comment box then the user can click Add to add their comment to the post.

Comments will display directly under the post and will display the profile image of the user that submitted the comment. The user that submitted the comment can edit or delete it. Administrators can also delete comments.
Individuals can reply to or like each other's comments.

Editing a Published Post
Users have the flexibility to make edits or add detail to their existing, published posts.
On the post itself, hover over the … icon and select Edit.

The Edit Your Post popup will appear, allowing you to add to or change the message, include additional pictures, tag people, etc. Once all edits are made, click Save.

Deleting a Post
If you choose to remove a post, perhaps created by accident, that option is available as well. On the post itself, hover over the … icon and select Delete. After deletion is confirmed, the post will no longer be featured on the group landing page or be searchable on the posts page.
